题目:Timed Petri Nets and Application in Healthcare Systems
报告人:Prof. Jiacun Wang, Monmouth University, New Jersey, USA
摘要: Optimizing patient flow is crucial to improving the quality of healthcare service, providing a positive experience for patients and healthcare teams. Patient flow is event-driven, and thus Petri nets are a good fit for its modeling and analysis. This talk introduces multi-level modeling process of patient flow in typical emergency departments with stochastic timed Petri nets. Special attention is paid on resource requirements, resource sharing and service duration. The talk also discusses patient flow performance evaluation, such as average patient waiting time and service bottleneck. Two staffing models for physicians and nurses will be considered and the decision on the optimal staffing level with each model will be addressed.
个人简介:Jiacun Wang received the PhD in computer engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China, in 1991. He joined Monmouth University in 2004 and is currently a professor of software engineering. He served as the computer science and software engineering department chair during 2009 – 2015. He has been the graduate program director of the department since 2016. His research interests include machine learning, formal methods, discrete event systems, software engineering, workflow, and real-time distributed systems. He published four books and about 170 papers. He was an Associated Editor of IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Part C, during 2004-2012, and is currently an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems and IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica. He has served as general chair and program chair in several international conferences.
题目:Towards Adaptive and Personalized Cyber-physical Social Education
报告人:Prof. Ying (Gina) Tang,Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rowan University, USA
摘要: A flood of technological innovation is emerging to support the seamless integration and optimization of cyber space, physical space and social space, fostering a range of mechanisms and rules with implications for many application domains. Impacts on a new way of education –metaverse learning - that takes place anytime and anywhere, should be anticipated, enabling a broader understanding of the mind, cognitive development and learning philosophies. This talk will present perspectives of Cyber-physical Social Education in the context of cyber-enabled intelligent learning through immersive virtual reality and gamification. More specifically, the talk will feature the recent development of modeling and control for learning augmentation and personalization.
